Kuantan: CIMB Foundation (“the Foundation”) today held its sixth annual Hari Raya Shopping programme at Mydin in Kuantan, spreading joy to 106 children from Rumah Kanak-Kanak Tengku Ampuan Fatimah and Rumah Kanak-Kanak Sultanah Hajah Kalsom.
The event was graced by DYMM SPB Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah Ibni Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah Al-Musta'in Billah and His Majesty’s princesses. The royal family was hosted by Tengku Dato’ Sri Zafrul Aziz, Group CEO of CIMB Group, his wife, Raja Datin Sri Johanna Raja Arshad and Dato’ Hamidah Naziadin, CEO of CIMB Foundation. The guests of honour accompanied the children to shop for Raya clothes, shoes and toys, assisted by CIMB volunteers.
Dato’ Hamidah Naziadin, CEO of CIMB Foundation, said, “We are honoured to have DYMM Yang di-Pertuan Agong grace today’s meaningful event, and to add Hari Raya cheer to these children, many of whom are orphans. This annual festive initiative during the holy month of Ramadan is just one of the ways for CIMB Foundation to extend our support to the less fortunate in our surrounding communities. Our efforts on enabling and supporting beneficiaries are grounded in the philosophy that the road to a nation’s prosperity is paved with shared success, and of giving back to society regardless of race, creed, age or gender.”
CIMB Foundation Hari Raya Shopping programme began in 2013 with the aim of spreading joy to children from underprivileged homes nationwide during the festive season. Since 2013, the Foundation has spent over RM400,000 on the programme, benefiting more than 2,000 children from 30 homes nationwide. Besides Kuantan, CIMB Foundation’s Hari Raya Shopping programme this year was also held in Subang Jaya and Seremban.
Established in 2007, CIMB Foundation has, thus far, disbursed RM140 million to benefit more than 750,000 people through 1,157 initiatives with a lasting, sustainable impact, particularly on deserving and underserved segments of society.
